Halfmoon Systems

Pre-press, Finishing,
Binding, etc.

This area of the screen is where additional operations concerning an estimate are entered.  For example, to add a finishing operation, click the Add button in the Finishing window.  A list of finishing operations will appear, and these can be be selected and added to the list.  Up to 8 pre-press and finishing operations can be saved with a quote.  To delete and item from a list: click on the item, then click the Del (delete) button.

On book jobs, the Bindery window is visible.  Select the type of binding by clicking the drop down arrow and selecting from the list.  There are 2 sets of bindery operations available: In House and External.

You may also add additional one time and per 1000 costs to be included in the quote.  These are actual costs, and will be marked up using the Additional Costs markup percentage.

If a job appears to be unusually difficult, you can adjust the slider bar to compensate for additional time which may be required on press.  The default difficulty of 1 (one) uses the standard press rates entered for each press.  Moving the slider bar to the right will increase the amount of estimated press time.

The Minimum Waste/Maximum Up slider applies a factor during the stock selection process to help determine which size stock is best suited to the job.  In most cases, the setting will not have any effect.  You also have the option of manual stock size selection on flat sheet jobs and covers.

The series of check marks at the lower right are used to include or omit certain items from the quote, and to determine how the markup is applied.  Typically, each item is marked up at the rate you enter in the Markup Percentages window.  If you select the Use Gross Markup option, only the gross markup percentage is applied to the final cost total.
